Patient presents to the ED being brought in by husband in their car. Husband runs to ED triage desk yelling, "please help my wife, she is in the car and I think she stopped breathing." ED staff ran out to car with stretcher and pulled patient from car. Patient pale with agonal respirations, pulse present. Patient brought to triage, intranasal narcan given. Pt then became responsive, waking up, becoming combative until husband calmed her down. Pt now resting, breathing on own on monitor. Vital signs now within normal limits after narcan. When asked if patient was suicidal she declined to reply and shrugged her shoulders. Pt states she took too much of her pain medication which was prescribed after recent L knee surgery. Awaiting psychiatric consult. |
